Zynga’s entry into building games for the Web3 era signifies an evolution of the space, and showcases how great game design, safety, and compliance are the path to realizing the promise of blockchain games.

Today Zynga announced its debut Web3 title Sugartown, which will be an ecosystem of games built on the blockchain for the digital ownership era. Forte is proud to be part of this ambitious endeavor.

Our partners, including Zynga, share Forte’s values that Web3 games can only be mainstream if they are focused on true, organic, and fun(!) gameplay, with secure, stable, sustainable, and compliant economies.

But much has transpired in the past year-and-a-half that has undermined the blockchain space. The industry has faced tough macroeconomics, tightening regulatory environments, and the collapse of (and in some cases outright fraud within) previously leading and lauded crypto firms.

In many ways, these shake-outs are necessary to move the space closer toward Forte’s day-one vision of enabling sustainable, compliant economies that align end users, developers, and communities, and creating more abundance for more people all around the world in a safe and beneficial way. Collapses and fallouts like the ones we’ve seen in the past year-and-a-half are hard to deal with, but they’re ultimately healthy for platforms that are building for the long term.

As we’ve seen, game developers—now more than ever—need platform and compliance partners that can help them keep up with the shifting regulatory landscape and ensure that game economies operate in an ethical, compliant manner.

And that’s what we at Forte have been heads-down building. Our end-to-end platform enables the emergence of community economics, a system where the interests of game developers and players are aligned, leading to healthier, sustainable game communities.

Our partners, such as Zynga, are true believers in the creative and economic possibilities for Web3 games. We are grateful for their shared vision and trust in us, as they are pioneers in this new frontier, showing us all how it ought to be done.

Zynga has long been at the forefront of game innovation, and is a global leader in interactive entertainment with a mission to connect the world through games. We saw this in their evolution from social to mobile games, essentially writing many of the playbooks that game developers worldwide use today to create fun and engaging games for billions of players. This innovation has led to reach across more than 175 countries and regions, and Zynga has a diverse roster of popular game franchises that have been downloaded more than four billion times on mobile.

Today, Zynga is a wholly-owned publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, one of the world’s largest and most successful game publishers. Zynga’s Vice President of Web3, Matt Wolf, and his team have led the company’s groundbreaking Web3 efforts over the past two years.

Congratulations Zynga, our partner for the past two years, as the team has built Sugartown and beyond; we look forward to supporting this great game and maintaining a happy community together.
